Auditory VerbalUK is an Oxfordshire based charity which teaches deaf babies and children to listen and speak, so that they can achieve their full potential in life.

Typically, deaf children acquire language at half the rate of their hearing friends so may start school with language similar to a 2½ year old. AVUK makes a lifelong difference for each child in just three years: 80% of children we see graduate to mainstream primary school, listening and speaking at a level that matches their age.

“AVUK has given our son, born profoundly deaf, the gift of a normal life. He now talks, listens and learns with his hearing friends. He chats on the telephone, enjoys music, and surprises people with the quality of his speech and intonation” Mum of Henry, who has two cochlear implants

We are a small charity founded 10 years ago and since then we have helped over 1,000 deaf children though Auditory Verbal Therapy. Watch our video or visit our  website to find out more.

We also have places for the London Marathon, Silverstone Half Marathon & London to Brighton cycle.

Please contact Lucy Noble at Lucy@avuk.org or call 01869 321492 if you would like to find out more about being an AVUK runner! We will offer you fundraising advice and support, an AVUK running vest and a free place, providing you raise £150 in sponsorship.
